Our History
In 1961, Albert M. Baldino completed a correspondence course to learn locksmith skills with the objective of establishing his lifelong dream of owning and operating a locksmith business of his own.
Working in his locksmith company from 8 to 3 while continuing to work as an airline mechanic for United Airlines during the evening shift. His wife, Doris, and sons, Mark and Gary, walked from elementary school to the shop and covered from 3 to closing.
First located out of a 10×10 shed in the back of his house and then moving to the first commercial space in Springfield, VA, which was no wider than two double doors and 16 feet deep, he watched the locksmith business blossom during the first year. Baldino’s was now a real business. Mr. Baldino was able to leave his position as an airline mechanic to devote his full attention to his now flourishing lock company.
A larger location was established in Springfield, VA, with another shop to follow in the newly opened Tyson’s Corner Shopping Center. Baldino’s was able to claim the distinction of being the first lock shop in the nation located in a shopping mall setting.
After graduating from college, both sons, Mark and Gary, returned to the locksmith company as partners and full time employees. And when Albert Baldino passed away in March 1991, he left the locksmith service with them. They continued the fine tradition and grew the business to its present day prominence.
After 60 years in business, our locksmith company still operates with the same enthusiasm and dedication to quality service that came from the locksmith shop under the treehouse in 1961.
